Dr. Egidius Kamanyi

Sociologist, Anthropologist and Lecturer at University of Dar es Salaam. Egidius Kamanyi (BA,MA,PhD) is a Lecturer in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology of the University of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania and Coordinator for Postgraduate Studies-College of Social Sciences (CoSS) since 2020. He holds a PhD in Sociology from the University of Dar es Salaam. He has experience in teaching, researching and consulting. His areas of teaching include; Social Theory, Research Methods, Medical Sociology and Anthropology, Sociology of Education, Disaster management, Community development, Gender, and Natural resource management. Kamanyi has extensive research and consultancy experience on community issues including, disaster management, governance and social norms, child and maternal health, HIV/AIDS, education, social welfare and community development, natural resource management and environmental and social impact assessment (ESIA). He also has extensive experience in gender inclusive studies and interventions. He possesses vast experience working with both local and international collaborators. He is a winner of The Montpellier Advanced Knowledge Institute on Transitions (MAKI'T) Cohort 2023 Fellowship; and he is an appointed member of The National Technical Working Group (NTWG) responsible for enacting the Organ Donation and Transplantation Law in Tanzania since 2022 working under the Ministry responsible for Health in Tanzania and WHO.
